#CoPilot - searching #MetaCPAN for you inside your code editor (#vscode in my case) #perl @Perl
(I asked for a binary tree and got the package name for it)
in reply to Christos Argyropoulos MD, PhD

I don’t think it searched #CPAN or #MetaCPAN, because “BinaryTree” doesn’t exist there. It’s merely suggesting a package name.

If it actually searched CPAN it would tell you about something like metacpan.org/pod/Tree::Binary

And if it were truly CPAN-aware it would tell you to name your package Local::BinaryTree so you don’t get surprised later when another #Perl package from outside preempts your name: pause.perl.org/pause/query?ACT…

@mjgardner even it's boilerplate #c code is broken. One can go 000s miles further by implementing Ben Klemens ideas and using features post the 1989 ANSI standard.

I’m shocked! Shocked to find that lossy text compression produces bad code
